Last updated: 8 July 2026

These Booking Terms & Conditions apply to enquiries, proposals, bookings and travel arrangements made with Unravel Africa (Pty) Ltd.

By confirming a booking with us, you agree to these terms.

1. Who We Are

Unravel Africa (Pty) Ltd

Registration Number: 2013/204803/07

Business Address: 9 on Drommedaris, Stellenbosch, South Africa

Email: reservations@unravelafrica.com

VAT Status: Not registered for VAT

Unravel Africa designs and coordinates private African journeys using selected lodges, hotels, guides, transfer providers, activity operators and other travel suppliers.

2. Our Role

Unravel Africa acts as a private journey curator and coordinator. We arrange travel services using third-party suppliers. These may include accommodation providers, guides, transfer companies, airlines, activity operators, restaurants and other service providers.

Although we take care in selecting suppliers, the services themselves are provided by the relevant third-party suppliers and may be subject to their own terms, conditions, availability rules, payment terms and cancellation policies.

3. Enquiries and Proposals

Any proposal, itinerary or estimate provided before confirmation is subject to availability and may change until the booking is confirmed and payment has been received. Prices, availability, exchange rates, supplier terms and inclusions may change before confirmation.

4. Booking Confirmation

A booking is only confirmed once: we have issued a written confirmation; the required deposit or full payment has been received; and the relevant suppliers have confirmed availability. Until then, no accommodation, transfer, activity or service is guaranteed.

5. Payment Terms

For bookings made more than one month before travel, a 70% deposit is required to confirm the booking. For bookings made within one month of travel, full payment is required at the time of confirmation. The remaining balance is due no later than one month before travel, unless otherwise agreed in writing or unless supplier terms require earlier payment. Where a supplier requires a higher deposit, earlier payment or full prepayment, those supplier terms will apply.

6. Prices and Currency

Prices may be quoted in South African Rand, United States Dollars or another agreed currency, depending on the suppliers and destination. Unless expressly stated otherwise, prices exclude bank charges, foreign exchange charges, card processing fees, international wire fees, travel insurance, visas, vaccinations, personal expenses, gratuities and items not specifically included in the proposal. Unravel Africa is not registered for VAT, and VAT will not be charged by Unravel Africa unless this status changes.

7. Changes Requested by the Guest

If you request changes after confirmation, we will do our best to assist. Changes may be subject to availability, supplier approval, additional costs, amendment fees, exchange rate changes and revised cancellation terms. We cannot guarantee that requested changes will be possible.

8. Changes by Suppliers

Travel arrangements may be affected by supplier changes, weather, road conditions, flight schedule changes, conservation rules, safety requirements, operational issues or events beyond our control. Where changes are necessary, we will work with the relevant suppliers to find a suitable alternative where reasonably possible. Additional costs may apply.

9. Passports, Visas and Travel Documents

Guests are responsible for ensuring that they have valid passports, visas, permits, travel documents, parental consent documents for minors, health documentation and any other documents required for travel.Unravel Africa may provide general guidance, but we are not responsible for a guest’s failure to obtain or carry the correct travel documentation.

10. Health, Fitness and Medical Requirements

Guests are responsible for checking health, vaccination, medication and fitness requirements before travel. Safari, conservation, walking, water-based, remote-area and adventure experiences may involve inherent risks. Guests must disclose any medical, mobility, dietary or health considerations that may affect travel arrangements.

11. Travel Insurance

Comprehensive travel insurance is strongly recommended for all guests and should cover cancellation, curtailment, medical emergencies, evacuation, delays, lost luggage and supplier insolvency where available. Unravel Africa is not responsible for losses that could have been covered by appropriate travel insurance.

12. Guest Responsibilities

Guests are expected to behave respectfully, comply with supplier rules, follow safety instructions, respect wildlife and conservation requirements, comply with local laws and be considerate to guides, staff, local communities and other travellers. Suppliers may refuse service or remove guests who behave unlawfully, unsafely, abusively or in a way that disrupts others. In such cases, no refund is guaranteed.

13. Special Requests

We will note and communicate special requests, such as dietary needs, room preferences, celebrations or accessibility considerations. However, special requests are subject to supplier confirmation and cannot be guaranteed unless expressly confirmed in writing.

14. Limitation of Liability

Unravel Africa will take reasonable care in arranging travel services. However, we are not responsible for loss, damage, injury, delay, cancellation or additional cost caused by third-party suppliers, guest actions, inaccurate information provided by guests, force majeure events, weather, wildlife, road conditions, political events, border issues, flight changes, illness, strikes, natural disasters or other events outside our reasonable control. Nothing in these terms limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.

15. Force Majeure

We will not be liable for failure or delay in performing our obligations where caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, extreme weather, fire, flood, epidemic, pandemic, war, civil unrest, terrorism, government action, border closure, airline disruption, labour strike, supplier closure or other similar events.

16. Complaints During Travel

If something goes wrong during travel, guests should notify us or the relevant supplier as soon as possible so that we have a reasonable opportunity to assist. Complaints made only after travel may be more difficult to investigate or resolve.

17. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, unless a separate written agreement with a different Unravel Africa group entity states otherwise.
